    Dear Swarup

You may want to have a look at the following scale which measures meaning at work:

Lips-Wiersma, M., & Wright, S. (2012). Measuring the meaning of meaningful work: Development and validation of the Comprehensive Meaningful Work Scale. Group Organization Management, 37(5), 655-685.

    Hi Swarup,

Gretchen Spreitzer's (1995) psychological empowerment scale has a three item measure of meaning that might be worth reviewing.  Good luck!

For Meaningfulness, you may want to check out the following:

Steger, MF., Frazier, P., Oishi, S., & Kaler, M. (2006). The meaning of life questionnaire: Assessing the presence of and search for meaning in life. Journal of Counseling Psychology, 55(1), 80-93.

It's original intent was to measure meaningfulness in life, but the scales lends itself to being adapted for meaningfulness coming from work.

Here is a measure from Idaszak, J. R., & Drasgow, F. (1987). A revision of the job diagnostic survey: Elimination of a measurement artifact. Journal of Applied Psychology, 72, 69-74.

    1.     Most of the things I have to do on this job seem useless or trivial (R)
    2.     The work I do on this job is very meaningful for me
    3.     Most people on this job feel this work is useless or trivial (R)
    4.     Most people on this job find this work meaningful

    Swarup,

A related, but organizational level construct is "goal internalization", the latest discussion of which you can find in:

Arceniega, M. L. & Menon, S. T. (2013).  The Power of Goal Internalization: Studying Psychological Empowerment in a Venezuelan Plant.  International Journal of Human Resource Management, 24(15): 2948-2967.
