    The Henry W. Bloch School of Management at the University of Missouri – Kansas City is seeking an entrepreneurial, innovative and purposeful individual to join the leadership team as Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Faculty Development.

     

    The Bloch School has a focus in entrepreneurship and innovation with a dedicated department of Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation which is very uncommon in American Universities. We are committed to producing entrepreneurial and innovative graduates who are competitive globally, able to function in diverse international teams, and innovate across disciplines around the world in both for-profit and nonprofit enterprises.

     

    The Bloch School of Management has approximately 1900 students with one-third graduate and two-thirds undergraduate students. The school has six departments: Accounting, Finance, Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Management, Marketing and Supply Chain Management, and Public Affairs, with 54 tenure and tenure-track faculty. The number of faculty is expected to double over the next few years. In preparation, our new 75,000 sq. ft. building is scheduled for completion in August 2013. The facility is designed with unique architectural spaces to promote experiential teaching and learning, and fundamentally change the pedagogy of management education.

    Responsibilities: Reporting to the Dean and working closely with all department chairs and Bloch School's administrative team consisting of the Assistant Dean for Strategy and Planning, Assistant Dean for Student Services and the school's Administrative Officer, the Associate Dean is responsible for promoting a culture of excellence for research, teaching and service, ensuring faculty are supported and developed, overseeing academic programs and school centers, and making administrative and budgetary decisions.

    Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an earned doctoral degree in business or related field from a first-tier university and scholarly prominence in a relevant academic discipline, as well as have research, scholarship, policy, and leadership achievements commensurate with a tenured appointment at full professor. This includes having national recognition as a scholar and a track record of academic productivity. Preferred candidates will possess:

    · Demonstrated strong ability in preparing budgets, projections and financial planning related to a business school

    · Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture that nurtures diverse forms of inquiry and scholarship

    · Demonstrated success collaborating with faculty and students from diverse backgrounds with diverse professional interests

    · Demonstrated ability to be entrepreneurial and innovative, resourceful, collaborative, and an effective team builder

    · Knowledge of and experience with private and public funding agencies and/or foundations, particularly major business sponsors

    · Available to support advanced work in various methods, approaches, and disciplines related to business

    · Demonstrated expertise in research methods

    · Evidence of successful mentoring of early-career faculty and doctoral students

    · Excellent writing, communication, presentation, organization and interpersonal skills

    · Experience planning, implementing, and sustaining interdisciplinary research

    The successful candidate for this position will be required to have a well-developed teaching and scholarly/research portfolio and demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment. We are looking for an ambitious visionary and purposeful candidate to help the dean and his team to make the Bloch School the world's number one entrepreneurship and innovation school; known for transforming talent and achieving sustainable growth in for-profit, public and nonprofit enterprises.

    This is a full-time tenured position
