Session Description:
The role of HR function has significantly evolved over the past twenty years. The job of the chief human resource officer (CHRO) continues to evolve. From an evolutionary standpoint, this role has moved from strictly personnel management to a legitimate part of the business and legitimate member of the C-Suite. CHROs play many roles and must find ways to manage each, as well as ways to coordinate and integrate the various roles effectively. Those who don't do this will not have a significant impact on the reputation of their HR function or with their peer senior leaders. Thus, we need to examine and rethink how the CHRO meets these demanding requirements. Given the continual changes both external and internal to the CHRO role and nascent nature of quantitative and empirically based research in the area, this PDW is intended to build a research road map of the key challenges, issues and gaps for future research. Panelists will consist of SHRM scholars and experienced CHROs. Such an agenda provides enormous opportunities for HR and organizational scholars as well as for CHRO career effectiveness.
Pre-registration is not required.
