Reporting to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Dean provides leadership for the six departments of Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business Information Systems and Operations Management, Management, and Marketing; a Center for Real Estate; and expanding international program offerings in Mexico, Asia, and Europe.

    The <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Belk</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype></st1:place> offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degrees, including: Ph.D. in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance; M.B.A., including an M.B.A. in Sports Marketing and Management; Master of Accounting; M.S. in Economics; and M.S. in Mathematical Finance.  The College also supports interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs in Organizational Science, Public Policy, and Information Technology.  Both the College and the program in Accounting are accredited by AACSB International.  The College has ten endowed professorships.

    The Dean is responsible for academic leadership, strategic planning, faculty appointments, budgetary and administrative oversight, development and alumni affairs, and community relations. Academic and community leadership; effective communication with faculty, staff, and students; consensus building; and fundraising are all part of the day-to-day activities of the Dean.

     

    The Dean should possess an earned doctorate and an outstanding record of scholarly achievement that is appropriate for appointment as a tenured, full professor at a research university; an established national reputation; demonstrated results at leading and developing an academic unit and commitment to student success; experience engaging a diverse university community; a successful record of establishing relationships within a university, the business community, and alumni; and a broad understanding of the AACSB International accreditation process.
