POST DOCTORAL FELLOW POSITION
School of Organisation & Management, Australian School of Management in conjunction with Management and Organisations, The University of Western Australia's Business School
· Salary range: 84,927 – 94,042 AUD per year depending on experience and skills. Other benefits include 17% superannuation, four weeks annual leave as well as fare to Sydney and removal allowance (if applicable).

· Position commences: March 5 2011 for two years, with potential to extend for an additional year. Note: the start date and length of position are flexible. There is potential to split this position into two post doctoral fellow positions of shorter duration.
Dr Catherine Collins from the School of Organisation & Management, Australian School of Business, at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), and Professor Cristina Gibson from the discipline of Management and Organisations at the University of Western Australia's (UWA) Business School, are currently inviting applications for a position as Post Doctoral Fellow. The successful candidate will collaborate with Dr Collins and Professor Gibson on team effectiveness while also pursuing their own independent program of academic research.
Specifically, the position involves a research project that encompasses three studies on team effectiveness focused on team learning, leadership, training and organisational context. Potential exists to broaden the scope of the project into the domains such as customer relations, emotional labour, work-life balance and cross-cultural capacity building. Quasi-experimental, longitudinal research designs as well as qualitative/cognitive mapping methods will be undertaken. The fellow will manage large-scale data collection across the three studies. Involvement will include all phases of the research, including the opportunity to shape research questions, collect and analyse data, as well as prepare data for publication. Co-authorship is anticipated.
Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in organizational behaviour or theory, psychology, or a related discipline, an excellent command of English language, and have demonstrated potential to conduct top quality research. Experience with large quantitative datasets and project management is necessary. Ability to work independently, multi-task, and be responsive to deadlines are critical. Candidates with proficiency in Hierarchical Linear Modelling, Latent Growth Modelling and Latent Class Analysis are particularly encouraged to apply.
The project includes extensive collaboration with the partner organisation, an engineering products and service business; interactions will include employees from the shop floor through to the Board of Directors. The project will involve extensive travel for interviews with employees across Australia and New Zealand, including all capital cities as well as regional locations in each state.
The successful candidate will be based in Sydney at the School of Organisation and Management within the Australian School of Business. Research from this School is one of six established research strengths at University of New South Wales. The Excellence in Research Australia report 2010 ranked the field of "Business and Management" as a "5" indicating performance above world standard in this area. Only two universities in Australia received this research ranking.
In addition, an annual work trip to the discipline of Management and Organisations at The University of Western Australia (UWA) is an integral part of the position. The Organisational Behaviour group at UWA is a very prolific and are world leaders in their field. Senior appointments include a number of staff funded by the Australian Research Council on prestigious Professorial Fellowships. Strong links have been developed with the UWA Psychology School. In the recent Excellence in Research Australia report 2010 Psychology at UWA achieved the top rating of 5 and was one of only three institutions in Australia to rate at this highest level for Psychology.
