    Management/Strategic Management

     

    The Department of Management within the <u1:placetype u2:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype></u1:placetype> of <u1:placename u2:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename></u1:placename> at <u1:place u2:st="on"><u1:placename u2:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Central</st1:placename></st1:place></u1:placename> <u1:placename u2:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Washington</st1:placename></u1:placename> <u1:placetype u2:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype></u1:placetype></u1:place> seeks applicants for a tenure-track, Assistant or Associate Professor position in Management beginning with the 2008-2009 academic year.  This position is located at the Ellensburg campus, 110 miles east of <u1:city u2:st="on"><u1:place u2:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Seattle</st1:place></st1:city></u1:place></u1:city>.  The department has 16 full-time faculty members and offers an attractive teaching load with small classes and a relaxed teaching environment.  The <u1:place u2:st="on"><u1:placetype u2:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype></st1:place></u1:placetype> of <u1:placename u2:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename></u1:placename></u1:place> has a strong teaching orientation and requires a commitment to students through research and advising.  The College is currently pursuing AACSB accreditation.

     

    The successful candidate is expected to teach our capstone course in strategy as well as other management-related courses.  The teaching may include distance education course delivery.  Members of the faculty are also required to:  advise students, provide service to the university, college, department, and community, and conduct research and publish in their fields.  The demonstrated ability or potential to produce peer-reviewed published research is essential.  Research is supported through reduced teaching loads and funding from a variety of sources.

     

    Qualifications

     

                Required:

     

    ·         Ph.D. in Management from an AACSB accredited institution (strong candidates who are nearing completion of the dissertation will be considered)

    ·         Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in upper division management courses (e.g. Summary of teaching evaluations)

    ·         Evidence of scholarship/research in Management field

     

    Preferred:

     

    ·         Demonstrated excellence in teaching upper division strategy/policy courses

    ·         Interest/experience in another discipline area such as business ethics, entrepreneurship/small business management, human resource management, international management, and/or organizational behavior.

    ·         Published articles in peer-reviewed journals

     

    Salary and Benefits: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Depending on the needs of the Department, an opportunity to teach summer classes for additional compensation may be available. Benefits include medical, dental, life, and disability insurance as well as retirement contributions. <u1:place u2:st="on"><u1:state u2:st="on"><st1:state w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Washington</st1:place></st1:state></u1:state></u1:place> has no state income tax.
