    Hello everyone,

I am looking for a good textbook (with instructor resources available, if
possible) combining Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management
for our MBA class. It is for an introductory course in OB & HRM.

Any help would be really appreciated.

    Best regards

    Ioannis Nikolaou

    Hi Ioannis,

Recently this very same request was made on the HR
listserv, and the general consensus was that it's not a good
idea to try and combine that much material into one course.
Unfortunately, I didn't keep all of those e-mails, perhaps
someone else on this list may have. Good luck to you.

    Best,
    Lisa

while challenging to combine - some of the Industrial/Organizational Psychology texts do a pretty good job of including a lot of both topics in one text.  But you may still be lacking some management principles or structurally relevant information depending on the author.

I have used Muchinsky and Landy's texts - so they might be worth looking at.

    Hello Ioannis
You might want to look at Organizational Behavior by Debra Nelson &
James Campbell Quick. The book has an extensive coverage of OB with
lots of case studies and I would say it touches on some HR concepts. But
the focus is on OB. It has an instructors' kit, but have not used that.

Some of my colleagues have collaborated in designing two undergraduate courses that present management principles using hr textbooks, a management principles text and some other readings. Some of these would be too elementary for MBA students, but you might get some ideas from their curriculum. If you are interested, let me know and I will see if they are willing to share.

Also, you might check into what EMBA programs are doing in this regard; ours has some combinations of various "managing people" topics that don't run in strict OB or HR lines.

    Good luck!

Take a look at 'Human Resource Management, a strategic introduction' by Christopher Mabey, Graeme Salaman and John Storey, Blackwell Publishing.

    Best wishes
