The Business School at the University of Colorado at Denver & Health Sciences Center (UCDHSC) invites applications for a tenure tack Assistant or Associate Professor of Management position. We are particularly interested in candidates with a deep commitment to research and teaching in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development and/or Organizational Behavior.
As one of three institutions within the University of Colorado system, UCDHSC is an urban campus located in the heart of the city's commercial, cultural and recreational districts and has proudly positioned itself to be one of the top urban research universities in the country. The Carnegie Foundation has just classified UCDHSC as RU/VH: Research Universities (very high research activity).
The Business School, recognized for its educational program excellence, brings together a world-class faculty, top-notch students and influential, well-respected business partners. With classes offered during the day, in the evening and online, the Business School is the largest graduate school of business in the region and the first choice of business professionals. One of the few schools in Colorado that have earned AACSB accreditation at both undergraduate and graduate levels, the school attracts intelligent, highly motivated students from across the country and around the world.
UCDHSC's location in downtown Denver attracts a diverse undergraduate population, comprising primarily commuters, many of whom are non-traditional students. This diversity is enriched by UCDHSC's commitment to a philosophy of inclusion, embedded in all aspects of campus life from its community members, curriculum, research and community service, allowing for the creation of a learning environment that welcomes, embraces, sustains and celebrates the unique and shared experiences of faculty, staff and students.
The Management Program currently has 14 full-time faculty, including 4 past officers of the Academy of Management. The Management Program supports the MBA program and offers Management and HRM emphases in the BSBA program, and an MS in Management with 12 distinct emphases. The Management faculty include: Herman Aguinis, Ken Bettenhausen, Wayne Cascio, Kang Rae Cho, Vinit Desai, C. Marlena Fiol, Blair Gifford, Wendy Guild, Sarah Kovoor-Misra, Barry McConnell, Jeff Nystrom, Ed O'Connor, Chuck Rice and Manuel Serapio.
Job Responsibilities: The faculty member will teach 4 courses (3 hours each) during a 9-month appointment. The position is 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% service.
Required Qualifications: Required qualifications for the position include a Ph.D. or DBA in Management or related field from an AACSB accredited (or equivalent) university. Junior applicants must demonstrate potential for excellence in research and teaching. Senior applicants must have a strong research record including top tier journal publications and demonstrated teaching success.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications for the position include a doctoral degree in Management or a related discipline from an AACSB accredited (or equivalent) university, evidence of high quality of teaching ability, teaching experience at both undergrad and grad levels at an AACSB (or equivalent) university, demonstrated success in publishing scholarly research, experience or potential for successful interaction with students from diverse, multi-cultural backgrounds (e.g., international and underrepresented minorities); experience or potential for successful interaction with non-traditional students (e.g., working students with families) in an urban university, and interest in a successful academic career at UCDHSC. Successful candidates will show a commitment to excellence in research and teaching. Candidates for advanced rank must demonstrate significant accomplishments in research, teaching and service.
