    Emerald, the world's largest publisher of English-language scholarly
    journals in business and management, is inviting applications for the
    post of Editor of the Journal of Managerial Psychology
    (http://www.emeraldinsight.com/jmp.htm). This is an excellent
    opportunity for an ambitious and focused individual with solid editorial
    experience to edit a leading journal in Emerald's Human Resource
    Management portfolio. The Journal is currently edited by James Werbel,
    Iowa State University.

    * About the Journal of Managerial Psychology

    The objective of the Journal of Managerial Psychology is to provide
    those involved in the study and practice of psychology as applied to
    managing and organizing with the latest research and knowledge about the
    development of people in organizations. The Journal promotes a dialogue
    between theory and practice, and disseminates high quality quantitative
    and qualitative research to academics and practitioners in management,
    psychology and allied fields.

    The Journal of Managerial Psychology positions itself at the leading
    edge of developments in psychological knowledge as applied to managing
    and organizing. It encourages novel discourse and the application of
    theory, aiming to provide a bridge to practice based on solid
    foundations of credible research. While practicing the applied
    scholarship of psychology, the Journal welcomes input from the aligned
    disciplines such as sociology, anthropology and the health sciences
    which help highlight psychologically-related issues applied to
    management.

    Now in its 22nd volume, the Journal of Managerial Psychology is a
    well-established and well-used scholarly publication. In 2006, more
    than 210,000 full text articles from the Journal were downloaded by
    researchers, students and management practitioners around the world.
    The Journal sponsors the annual Outstanding Publication in
    Organizational Behavior prize in the OB Division of the Academy of
    Management and is currently under evaluation by Thomson Scientific/ISI
    for inclusion in the Social Sciences Citation Index.


    * The role of the Journal Editor

    Emerald is seeking to recruit an engaged and enthusiastic Editor to
    manage editorial processes for the Journal of Managerial Psychology and
    to guide its development as a scholarly journal. The Journal Editor will
    be responsible for:

    * Managing the Journal's peer review process, with the assistance
    of an Editorial Administrator and Editorial Review Board, and delivering
    appropriate content for eight journal issues per volume.
    * Upholding and developing editorial standards on the Journal,
    through the good management of the peer review process or other content
    generation initiatives.
    * Engaging the Editorial Advisory Board in the work of the Journal
    and working with the Journal Publisher (at Emerald) to determine the
    composition of this group.
    * Working with the Journal's Associate and Consulting Editors, and
    other qualified individuals, to commission and manage the delivery of
    1-2 special issues per volume.
    * Developing and maintaining a network of contacts to act as
    advocates for the Journal or sources of copy as appropriate
    * Attending conferences or similar events to promote the Journal
    and source copy
    * Working with the Journal Publisher (at Emerald) to achieve
    agreed development objectives for the Journal and to raise its
    international profile and standing

    The Journal Editor receives an honorarium in lieu of his/her work on the
    Journal. Additional budget is also made available to the Editor to
    part-fund attendance at conferences or other events of relevance to the
    Journal.

    * Next steps

    Interested individuals are invited to submit a resume/CV and a proposal
    outlining how they would seek to develop the journal over the course of
    their editorship. Proposals for co-editorships will also be considered.
    It is anticipated that the new Editor will assume responsibility for the
    Journal in September 2007.
