    Dear OB Division Colleague:

The OB division needs your help! A guiding objective of the OB division
is to try to "build connections" between division members. Because the
OB division is the largest division in the Academy, it is important to
create opportunities for members to get to know one another. As an
example, a primary aim of the recently developed OB division listserv is
to help better connect division members. With this objective in mind,
the OB Scientific Affairs Committee (SAC) is working on some initiatives
to help better serve OB division members by fostering a connection
between members who have similar research interests. Specifically, we
recently met at the Academy of Management conference in Atlanta and
discussed an initiative to develop a number of smaller listservs based
around particular research interests. For instance, OB division members
that study a specific topic (e.g., creativity, leadership,
organizational justice, etc.) could have their own listserv to encourage
communication between members with similar interests. Ideally this
initiative will help strengthen existing relationships and cultivate new
connections between OB division members who research a similar domain.

We would like to ask for your help in providing topics that may be
suitable for a listserv. Topics should be large enough that there is a
community of scholars researching the topic, but small enough that it
does not subsume many of the different topics researched in OB. In
addition, we think it will be important for one person to serve as the
"moderator" for each listserv. The primary duty of the moderator is to
scan each posted message to make sure it is correct, appropriate and
relevant. Please inform us of anyone you think would do a good job
moderating a listserv for a specific topic.

Please send all of your responses to Dave Mayer at dmayer@bus.ucf.edu.
To be clear, we are interested in your ideas about topics that are
suitable for a listserv as well as your thoughts regarding people to
moderate the listserv. Once we receive all of the responses we will
identify a set of topics that will have their own listserv. Next, we
will contact nominated individuals to serve as moderators of the
    respective listservs.

In advance, we look forward to your feedback on this initiative. We
think that the use of topic-specific listservs will help address the OB
division's overarching goal of building connections between OB division
    members.

    Regards,
    OB Scientific Affairs Committee

I do not think that the mini-listservers are a good idea.

It is not as though this is swamped with traffic yet.

I think we are all interested in some set of dependent variables like
performance, absence, turnover, satisfaction, commitment and OCB. And
    we are all interested in some set of independent variables;
structure, demographics, group process, peronality, etc.

And there is already a Leadership interest Group listserver which I
moderate, so we need to avoid duplication.

To join this list go to:
    http://aomlists.pace.edu/scripts/

click on subscribers corner; in Show, sel;ect ALL lists from the
    drop-down menu.
click the box against LDRNET_L to join the leadership list.

I enjoy seeing an influx of new members. Enjoy.
