    <>INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT, AHMEDABAD, INDIA (IIMA) will host the 3rd International Conference on Intercultural Communication Competence titled "Learning, Teaching and Research in a Borderless World" on 26 – 27 October, 2006 at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Ahmedabad</st1:city>, <st1:country-region w:st="on">India</st1:country-region></st1:place>.  This is the third in a series of conferences sponsored by European Union as a part of an ongoing project.

    The conference subject areas are:
    • Conducting research in cross-cultural settings 
    • Teaching and training in different cultures
    • Implications of inter-culturally different learning styles in higher education
    • Doing business cross-culturally: cross-cultural marketing, performance measurement in different settings, bargaining and conflict-solving
    • Underlying aspects: stereotypes, prejudices, ethnocentrism, racism, building trust in cross-cultural settings, language, nonverbal communication
    • Institutional aspects: higher education systems and their relations, intergovernmental relations, role of politics, role of international programs
    The aim of this conference is to inform the public and interested academics alike about the research in these fields as well as about the specific and practical output of the inquiry into cross-cultural differences. Academics and practitioners around the world are invited to submit papers and contribute their research and expertise to a better understanding of different cultures.

    Next Steps for Public Administration in Theory and Practice:  Looking Backward and Moving Forward

     

    In the Celebration of Sun Yat-sen University's 90th Anniversary and Public Administration Review's 75th Anniversary, Sun Yat-sen University is hosting an International Conference entitled "Next Steps for Public Administration in Theory and Practice" in Guangzhou, China.  The program will review the evolution of public administration theories and public sector innovations in different parts of the world as well as search for new theories and innovative solutions for emerging issues in the public sector.  Responding to growing demand for new theoretical frameworks as well as innovative, interactive, and interdependent policy tools, the conference aims at offering an intellectually challenging and practically relevant opportunity for both scholars and practitioners.
