Chairs in Management and Organizational Behavior
School of Business, University College Dublin
We in the School of Business at University College Dublin are seeking to fill two Chairs
· The recently-funded Governor Hugh L. Carey Chair in Organizational Behavior and
· A long-standing Chair in Management, vacated by retirement
The posts offer exciting opportunities for the right candidates to build a major presence in the School: one for Organizational Behavior and the other for the holder's Management sub-specialty. Both offer the chance to contribute to disciplinary recognition and development in Ireland. Current fields covered within the Management Chair are International Business, Strategy, Organizational Behavior, Organization Theory and Design, Ethics-CSR, Entrepreneurship, Project Management, Innovation/Technology Management, and Supply Chain Management.
These positions are full-time permanent appointments. The School has a core of faculty in OB and a large number of faculty in Management and seeks to further develop the disciplines as significant components of its capabilities. The Professors will contribute to the School's objectives by engaging in scholarly activity through research, publications, and teaching. The holders will be expected to assume academic leadership roles in the development of their disciplines, and in particular lead research, mentor colleagues, and supervise doctoral students.
UCD today is a research-intensive university which strives to advance knowledge through cutting-edge research and to communicate knowledge through excellence in teaching within a creative and collegial environment.
The UCD School of Business consists of the Michael Smurfit Graduate School and the Quinn School (undergraduate). Faculty teach in both schools. The core values of the School are respect, excellence in scholarship and its application, and continuous renewal. The School, which already has a reputation for quality, has aspirations to attain recognition as a top global business school. The holders of the chairs will join chairs being added in other disciplines to provide a major infusion of talent to the School. Applications are invited from senior academics as well as those at Associate Professor level whose record indicates that they are poised to join the ranks of senior academics. Although permanent hires are the preferred option, an alternative exists for appointments of two-three years duration. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2007.
