The Road Less Travelled: Advantages of Positions in a Balanced or Teaching University (session 210 - PDW)
Did you do your PhD in a very research-intensive universities (R1)? Were you socialized and mentored to enter the academic job market as if all positions were in R1 universities? Are you now curious as to what other types of universities have to offer? This PDW will discuss what it is like to work in universities that value both research and teaching, and that have different expectations in the selection process than R1 institutions. This PDW aims to inform and encourage AOM members to consider careers outside of R1 universities, and to provide them with information about other types of universities.
