    Dear PhD student members,

Are you interested in becoming more involved in the Health Care Management (HCM) Division? We are excited to announce recruitment for the HCM Student Representative and Student Engagement Committee!

What do you do as a Student Representative?

In short, we are the voices of the HCM students in the Executive Committee. We attend the monthly online Executive Committee meetings and represent the students of the division. We help organize the Emerging Scholars Consortium at the Annual Meeting, submit Program Development Workshops (PDWs), and coordinate the Student Social event on the Thursday preceding the official start of the Annual Meeting. Additionally, we co-chair the Student Engagement Committee, a group of students who work together to ensure that student voices are shared within the division. The position allows for a lot of personal input and creativity - anything that you think can benefit the students of the HCM division can become part of your role as Student Representative. Please note that the position is for a two-year term: there are two Student Representatives who rotate every other year. PJ will leave this year, and Ren will leave the following year. The position will formally start in August 2025.

*Please note, Student Reps should commit to attending all AOM Annual Meetings while serving their term.

    Why should you apply?

Being a DIG Student Rep is a fantastic opportunity. It allows you to meet, work with, and learn from many people in the HCM division. It enables you to consider the needs of students within the division and help facilitate these needs, with a lot of freedom and creativity in how you approach this. You'll improve your leadership, communication, and organizational skills, among others. If you enjoy working with a diverse group of people and advocating for student voices, then this might be the perfect position for you!

What other opportunities are there to serve the HCM division?

The Student Engagement Committee (SEC) serves as the voice of the HCM students by:

    • Participating in bi-monthly SEC meetings, where student members partner to amplify the needs and voices of student members throughout the year

    • Serving on one additional HCM division committee as a student representative

    • Supporting the HCM Student Division Representatives in organizing the Emerging Scholars Consortium at the Annual Meeting, which may include:

      • Supporting the development and implementation of PDWs

      • Partnering with division committees to meet goals and objectives throughout the year

      • Supporting the development and expansion of student-centered events for the HCM division membership

Committees student representatives can serve on:

    • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee (DEI)

    • Membership Committee

    • Research Committee

    • Practice Committee

    • Potential opportunities to serve as moderators and webinar coordinators through the year

    Interested in getting involved?

You can apply by sending an e-mail before July 1st to Pejmon Noghrehchi and Ren Lovegood (noghrehchi.1@buckeyemail.osu.edu & ren.lovegood@umb.edu), including:

    • Your name

    • University

    • Email address

    • Anticipated year of degree completion (must be 2027 or later)

    • Whether you expect to attend the annual conference in 2025

    • Are you a current member of the HCM division or willing to formally join?

    • Which committee are you interested in joining and why?

Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions. We are looking forward to connecting with you and welcoming you to our community.
