     Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Business (Accounting)

    The Position

    Redeemer University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Business beginning in July 2024. We seek candidates who are aligned with and passionate about Redeemer's mission of approaching teaching and scholarship from within a biblical worldview, shaped by a Reformed Christian perspective.

    Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will teach up to 6-7 course sections per year, including a mix of the following:

            Courses in Financial and Managerial Accounting

            Courses in Taxation and/or Assurance Services

            An Introductory course in Not-for-Profit Management

            General Business courses such as Decision Making for Managers or Strategic Management

    Responsibilities also include an active, ongoing program of research and publication, as well as service to the university community through participation in committees, governance, and the like. A formal mentoring program and internal grants are available to assist with development in both teaching and research aspects of the position.

    Preferred Skills and Attributes

    The ideal candidate will possess:

            a passion for mentoring and preparing students to make an impact for Christ in the marketplace;

           the ability to communicate complex topics in a way that can be easily understood by undergraduate students;

            a contagious enthusiasm for the profession of accounting that enables students to see the relevance of what they are learning to career and Christian witness;

           a strong conviction for the value of experiential learning and use of the case method of teaching; and

           a high degree of computer literacy and the ability to teach students Excel and other computer skills.

    Not-for-profit experience and the ability to cross over into another discipline such as Human Resources, Strategic Management, or Finance are assets. 

    Qualifications

    Candidates should possess:

            A vibrant Christian faith consistent with the Reformed character of the university;

            A CPA designation and an MAcc or MBA; or a DBA or PhD specializing in Accounting;

            5 to 10 years of relevant experience in public practice and/or industry;

            A demonstrated record of excellence in undergraduate teaching, or evidence of the potential to become an excellent teacher;

            A thorough knowledge of the CPA Competency Map and pre-professional requirements; and

           A research/scholarship program and accomplishments appropriate to the candidate's career stage, or evidence of the potential to develop a strong research program; or ongoing professional practice opportunities.

    The Application Process

    As a liberal arts and sciences university rooted in the Reformed tradition of Christianity, we seek candidates committed to this framework. Applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching quality, the names of three individuals who have agreed to provide letters of reference should the applicant advance to a later stage of the process.

    In addition to these materials, applicants must include a 1-page to 2-page document describing their own Christian faith commitment and practice, its alignment with Redeemer's mission and its impact on their academic and professional work. A range of qualifications will be evaluated, including distinguishing characteristics that demonstrate congruence with Redeemer's identity as a university in the Protestant and particularly Reformed Christian tradition.
