The Management and Organization (M&O) Department in the Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University has two non-tenure-track positions open. One position is an open rank full-time Clinical Professor of Management and one position is for a full time Instructor of Management. The desired start date for both positions is Fall of 2026.
Positions:
Instructors in the Smeal College of Business are hired on multi-year contracts (following a probationary period), are expected to teach 21 credits per academic year (or its equivalent), and are eligible for promotion (ranks of Instructor, Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, and Teaching Professor or Professor of Practice).
Clinical faculty in the Smeal College of Business are hired on multi-year contracts, are expected to teach 18 credits per academic year (or its equivalent) and contribute to the teaching mission of the school by bringing relevant knowledge, experiences, and perspectives to the classroom. Clinical faculty also typically assume leadership roles in the department's academic programs and mentoring of students including related student organizations. Clinical professors are eligible for promotion (ranks of Assistant Clinical Professor, Associate Clinical Professor, and Clinical Professor).
Job Requirements:
Instructors in the Smeal College of Business have a primary focus on teaching and contributing to the teaching mission of the school by bringing business knowledge, experiences, and perspectives to the classroom and by advancing the goal of student-centeredness. A successful teaching record is therefore required. Classes may be a mixture of undergraduate and/or graduate level courses. Onsite teaching is an essential function of the job.
Clinical faculty in the Smeal College of Business have a primary focus on teaching, and therefore evidence of a successful teaching record is required. A terminal degree in management or a related field is also required. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual who will enjoy working in an interdisciplinary and collaborative departmental environment. Classes may be at the undergraduate or graduate level, and may be fully in person, delivered in a hybrid format, or delivered fully online. Onsite teaching is an essential function of the job.
