    Presenter Symposium

Investigating Both Benefits and Limitations of Individual, Team, and Organizational Growth Mindsets (Session 11130)

    1:45PM - 3:15PM CEST, Tuesday, Jul 29 at Bella Center in Hall B- B4-m7

Join us for an engaging symposium on the study of growth mindsets in organizations at AOM Copenhagen 2025! This session features the latest research on mindsets—lay beliefs about the fixedness or malleability of human attributes—in organizational contexts. Moving beyond the classroom, these presentations explore both the benefits and limitations of a growth mindset at the individual, team, and organizational levels. By examining how growth mindsets shape workplace outcomes such as job satisfaction, leadership behaviors, and performance evaluations, we hope to contribute fresh insights into how mindsets influence human flourishing in today’s complex work environments.

    Presentations:

    1. Team Growth Mindsets about Leadership Shape Claiming and Granting the Lead: Implications for Leadership Dynamics in Teams
      Yi Huang & Krishna Savani
    2. Individual Beliefs vs. Organizational Mindset: Growth Organizational Mindset Uniquely Shapes Better Employee Experience in the Workplace
Eva Hsin-Lian Lin & Aneeta Rattan
    3. Stunted by Growth Mindset: Believing Abilities are Not Fixed Predicts Escalation of Commitment to Others’ Potential at Work
Constantinos V. Coutifaris, Marissa Shandell, Lorenzo Dube, & Adam Grant
    4. Understanding the Effort Mindsets: The Effect of (Fruitless) Effort Investment on Performance Evaluations
      Amanda Chen & Melody Chao

Discussant: Sue Ashford; Ross School of Business, University of Michigan

    Sponsor divisions:
