    Dear Colleagues,
I am reaching out to invite you to participate in a research study titled "Imposters in Academia: Sensemaking of Professional Identity." The purpose of this study is to better understand how higher education faculty experience and make sense of the Impostor Phenomenon. The latter refers to persistent feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt despite demonstrated competence, success, and professional accomplishments.
To participate, individuals must be faculty members at a higher education institution and have held their current role for at least 6 months. If you meet these criteria, we will greatly value your perspective in an interview exploring your experiences with professional identity and impostor feelings.
This study has received ethics clearance from Brock University's Research Ethics Board (REB 23-349 PERERA). Participation is entirely voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time. The interview is expected to last approximately 60–90 minutes.
If you are interested or would like more information, please feel free to reach out to Dr. Yasanthi Perera at: bperera@brocku.ca. If eligible, you will receive a detailed consent form outlining the study, confidentiality measures, and your rights as a participant.
Thank you for considering this invitation.
