We seek to fill a fully funded PhD fellowship position in Northeastern's university level interdisciplinary Ph.D. program with a focus on research in human-centered approach to AI and human-AI interaction, to start in Fall 2024. Successful candidates will have a background in psychology, organizational behavior, human-computer interaction or related disciplines. Successful candidates will work with Christoph Riedl as main adviser and join a lab of collaborative research projects with other faculty at the D'Amore-McKim School of Business and a cohort of PhD students of the Network Science Institute. Work in our lab explores how the presence of AI agents may affect team communication, how humans can learn from AI, and how AI interventions could increase collective intelligence of groups (for more background see: http://christophriedl.net/ and https://damore-mckim.northeastern.edu/). Broadly speaking, candidates should be excited about exploring questions about how AI can be developed and deployed to serve humanity and augment human intelligence in ways that improve human well-being. Besides conducting research in the area of human-AI interaction, you will work closely with your supervisor to create an individually tailored program of study which will draw on courses across social science, computer science, network science, and the broader Boston ecosystem such as Harvard and MIT. More information on the interdisciplinary PhD program can be found here: https://phd.northeastern.edu/program/interdisciplinary/

    To apply

Candidates should reach out with the subject "INTERDISCIPLINARY PHD 2024" to Christoph Riedl <c.riedl@northeastern.edu>, including a CV and cover letter to explore alignment with the fellowship before applying to the PhD program itself before the PhD program application deadline of January 15.
