    Dear all,

I would like to make you aware of the following call for papers:

Call for submissions: Special issue in on gossip and group processes in Journal of Experimental Social Psychology

We are writing to solicit papers to the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology's special issue on gossip and group processes. The goal of this special issue is to advance our understanding of the role gossip plays in groups. We invite submissions that investigate how gossip influences group processes, how group processes influence gossip, or that provide insights into both types of relationships.

Contributions can cover topics such as, but not limited to, the relationship between gossip and:

    • deviance
    • norm violations
    • conflict
    • hierarchy
    • aggression
    • cohesion
    • decision-making
    • cooperation
    • conformity
    • polarization
    • leadership / followership
    • performance

We welcome diverse methodological approaches to studying the above questions, and particularly encourage submission of papers that employ behavioral measures in the lab and the field. Besides experimental data, natural or quasi-experimental approaches may be suitable as well. We also welcome submissions that develop new theory that clarifies the relationship between gossip and group processes and outcomes.

Submissions are due by March 1, 2024, but earlier submissions are appreciated.
