Rethinking Inclusion for Independent Workers: Beyond Traditional Models
As the gig economy continues to grow, millions of freelancers, contractors, and self-employed professionals (Independent Workers, IWs) are reshaping the world of work. Yet, many of our current inclusion frameworks and organizational policies still focus on traditional, in-house employees.
Independent workers often work remotely, outside organizational structures, and without access to networks, decision-making processes, or formal recognition.
๐ How can organizations, managers, and policymakers foster inclusion for workers who are structurally "outsiders"?
๐ What does inclusion look like when there's no team or office culture?
๐ How can EDI frameworks evolve to reflect the realities of gig and independent work?
We welcome submissions that explore topics such as:
โ
Diversity and inclusion challenges for IWs
โ
Social vs. professional inclusion
โ
Organizational and managerial inclusion practices
โ
Policy innovations
โ
Lived experiences and voices from independent workers
