    The Psychology of Technology Institute invites doctoral students to apply for our 2025 Dissertation Awards, recognizing outstanding research on how technology shapes human behavior and society. We are awarding three $1,000 prizes and up to three honorable mentions.

    Who Can Apply? Doctoral students in psychology, organizational behavior, communications, marketing, computer science, information science, anthropology, or related fields who have proposed or defended their dissertation in 2024.

    Research Topics: We welcome dissertations that explore the psychological determinants and consequences of adopting new technologies. Topics can include (but are not limited to): 

    • AI & Automation: AI assistants, large language models (LLMs), robots, algorithmic decision-making, AI companions 
    • Impact of Tech on Social Influence & Behavior: Social media, misinformation, polarization, tech and mental/physical well-being 
    • Privacy & Ethics: Algorithmic bias, surveillance, data privacy, ethical concerns in AI 
    • Work & Productivity: AI in the workplace, future of work, digital time management tools 
    • Immersive Technologies: Virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), deepfakes, digital identity 
    • Consumer & Communication Trends: Adoption of new tech, human-computer interaction, attitudes toward technology

    How to Apply Applicants should submit: -Dissertation title -Abstract (≤600 words) -Updated CV -Letter of recommendation from dissertation advisor (sent separately)
