Mentoring Future Leaders in Leadership Scholarship: A Global Collaborative PDW

This Academy of Management Professional Development Workshop (PDW) provides doctoral students and faculty with the opportunity to discuss their leadership research in an informal, collegial setting with prominent leadership scholars.
Based on their proposed research topics, theories, and methods, junior scholars will be matched with a senior scholar who has similar research interests (and who is not from their home institution). During the session, senior scholars will provide developmental feedback on proposals submitted in advance, offering insights and suggestions to strengthen participants’ research and future scholarly trajectories.
The focus of this PDW is on helping participants develop strong theoretical foundations and design high-quality empirical studies in leadership research. We encourage the use of diverse methodological approaches, particularly those that may benefit from collaboration with other scholars, such as comparative case studies, critical incident diaries, field experiments, and survey-based research. The session is intended as a developmental opportunity for work in progress, providing a supportive environment for refining ideas, strengthening research designs, and building new collaborative relationships. Accordingly, it is not suited for participants with completed research projects.
