On 4-5 June 2024, Durham University Business School will be hosting the International Doctoral Consortium (IDC). The deadline for submissions has been extended to the 30 April 2024.

The consortium is an excellent forum for PhD students at all stages and early career researchers to exchange ideas, experiences and research results in a friendly and supportive environment. The IDC is mostly focused on critical management studies, from a generally critical and broadly qualitative perspective, but is flexible and open to any researchers who are interested.

Alongside researcher presentations, there will also be some workshop and guest speaker sessions along with a networking drinks reception.

While main plans are for the event to be in person in Durham, United Kingdom, there may be a virtual stream added with online presentations and hybrid access to some workshops depending on interest (there is space to indicate preference on the submission form).

Conference attendance is free of charge and some financial support for accommodation is available. To submit, please complete the form and attach a 500-word abstract relevant to the call at this website: https://urlr.me/!-IDC24   (by 30th April)

The full call is attached and more information on the event is available here: International Doctoral Consortium - Durham University Business School

The theme this year is 'Grand Challenges'. Some potential topic ideas within this could be:

    • The future of work
    • Leadership
    • Employee health and wellbeing
    • Investing in human capital for a sustainable global economy
    • Gender and women's work
    • The changing impact of technology
    • Corporate social responsibility and global stability
    • Sustainable marketing strategies
    • Sustainability in global supply chain management
    • Environmental responsibility of organisations
    • The role of (social) entrepreneurs in uncertain times
    • Initiatives for sustainability in emerging economies
    • Foreign direct investment and its impact on sustainability
    • Development of new methodologies

Submissions are not restricted to these areas though, all are welcome, and can be either conceptual or empirical papers.

The city of Durham also has many beautiful places to visit while you are here, such as Durham Cathedral (filming location for various documentaries and blockbuster films) and Botanic Gardens. More information about the city and surrounding areas can be found here: https://www.thisisdurham.com/
