Call for Proposals -Strategic Leader Development Forum

  • 1.  Call for Proposals -Strategic Leader Development Forum

    Posted 08-01-2022 11:42

To meet the Army's vision, strategic leader development in professional military education can draw from advances in executive education in civilian settings, including leader assessments, executive coaching, experiential simulations, multimodal delivery, and emerging research. To that end, the U.S. Army War College will host its second Strategic Leader Development Forum on 25-26 January 2023. Participants will have opportunities to learn from enterprise leaders as keynote speakers, engage with a panel of top leadership scholars, share developmental methodologies, share and apply research, participate in workshops to advance curriculum development, and learn about Army research opportunities and how to successfully apply for grants/contracts. The event will take place in historic Carlisle, PA, with opportunities to explore the local area and nearby Gettysburg. Although we encourage in-person attendance, a hybrid format will enable remote attendance for some portions of the program. Please note that Department of Defense COVID-19 protocols may adjust or restrict attendance requirements based on transmission levels and CDC guidelines. The SLDF Committee will notify all attendees of any adjustments to in-person attendance requirements or limitations.

This call for submissions invites proposals for two types of sessions: presentations and workshops. Presentations should provide insight from research on or current practices for leader development. Workshop proposals should identify a challenge for leader development relevant across military services or sectors and briefly describe how the workshop will structure and facilitate dialogue among attendees. Presentations or workshops may include but are not limited to the topics listed below.

We welcome submissions from academic and private sector researchers, professional military educators, executive educators and coaches, think tanks, and graduate student researchers. To ensure breadth in presentations, a single author should be named as a presenter on no more than three submissions. We encourage submissions from U.S. and international presenters.

Proposals should indicate the session type (presentation or workshop), and the primary intended audience (researchers, practitioners, educators). Submissions should include a title, presenter(s) contact information, preferred participation modality (remote or on-site), and an abstract of 200-250 words. Submissions are due on or before 30 September 2022. Submit proposals via email as a Word or .pdf document to SLDForum@armywarcollege.edu

Selected presenters will be notified by 30 October 2022.
