Monday, August 12th, 9:30-11am, at the Hyatt Regency hotel (session 21762).
While there are vibrant discussions on effective leadership development, as a field, it can benefit from greater attention and creation of theories about developing effective leaders. Specifically, focusing on theories of on how we "learn" leadership (i.e., management learning perspective), as well as theories on how to develop leaders effectively (i.e., the pedagogy of leadership development, which speaks to management education debates) (Lindebaum, 2023). Such contributions will not only benefit leadership development, but also advance the understanding of leadership effectiveness and management learning more generally.
The "Building Theory on Leadership Development" special issue aims to take an important step forward in further establishing leadership development as a community of scholars and distinct topic of scientific inquiry.
The PDW will include two parts:
Part 1 will provide an introduction to the Special Issue, presenting the aims and focus of the SI and will include Q&A.
Part 2 will focus on supporting and advising authors who wish to submit to the SI how to develop and refine their papers for submission.
