LONDON BUSINESS SCHOOL EUROPEAN PERSPECTIVE PHD WORKSHOP

Starts:  Nov 8, 2019 09:00 (UTC)
Ends:  Nov 9, 2019 17:00 (UTC)
Associated with  Organizational Behavior (OB)
The London Business School is holding a research workshop on November 8-9 2019 for a select group of graduate students enrolled in European Master of Science programmes (or equivalent) and potentially interested in pursuing a PhD. The workshop will focus on generating innovative and PhD-viable research projects related to organisational behaviour and social psychology more broadly. The aim is to discuss‘unsolved’ problems or questions in these areas and generate ideas to examine them.

Students can choose one of three sessions to attend, led by different LBS faculty:

 Gender in the workplace (Eliot Sherman)
 Collaboration: social networks in organizations (Pier Vittorio Mannucci)
 Using text analysis to understand work (Selin Kesebir)

The workshop will provide opportunities to:

- Informally present and receive feedback on current research projects
- Learn about research by LBS faculty and other workshop participants
- Learn about LBS PhD program, and about the PhD experience more broadly
- Brainstorm new research ideas in small groups
- Form new collaborations

The aim of this workshop is to bring together bright, motivated Master students with an interest in pursuing a PhD and with similar interests so they may inform and benefit from each other’s line of research and experiences within a collaborative environment. We envisage this workshop will help participants generate additional questions or projects they may wish to explore, either individually or in collaboration with other participants from the workshop.
We ask current master of science students interested in a PhD and working or aiming to learn about and work on gender, social networks and collaboration, or text analysis to send us a short research statement (approximately 150 words) telling us about a current research project on one of these topics (please feel free to include the relevant working/published paper) as well as a CV. In the body of your email, please also note which of the three sessions you prefer to join. Please send us your application to europhdworkshop@london.edu by October 1 2019. For questions regarding this workshop, contact Anna Kwiatkowska on akwiatkowska@london.edu or +44 20 7000 8948.

* Selected participants will have their travel, food and hotel paid for by the London Business School.
