Personnel Psychology's 2019 summer issue is now available on-line (see below for table of contents). This issue includes:
- a field study examining the validity of using LinkedIn to assess applicant's skills, personality, and cognitive ability.
- a longitudinal field study examining how perceived overqualification impacts new employees' adjustment during their first 90 days of employment.
- A set of field studies examining the processes through which supervisor's work-related and non-work information sharing impacts their subordinates' job performance and intentions to stay.
- A multi-level study demonstrating that various characteristics of a team (authority differentiation, skill differentiation, and team-member exchange) can weaken the motivational influence of leader-member exchange (LMX) suggesting boundary conditions to LMX theory.
- *A field study, using data from the National Survey of Midlife Development II, examining how general mental ability and conscientiousness relate to work-family conflict and enrichment, with occupational prestige and coping styles as proposed mediators.
The issue also includes a review of four books: Truth or truthiness (by Howard Wainer); Good people, bad managers (by Samuel Culbert); Competency-based HRM (by Srinivas Kandula); and Storytelling with data (by Cole Nussbaumer Knaflic).
