Research methods question: measuring job satisfaction in burnout

Any suggestions on the following research methods question?

We are working with datasets from the UK National Health Service (NHS) that lets us look at staff surveys (results aggregated at the institution level) for all the UK Trusts and compare workforce states with adjusted hospital mortality.

The NHS nicely asks engagement using one question from each factor in the UWES-9, but the NHS does not cleanly ask job satisfaction and burnout:

    1. For burnout, the NHS asks "During the last 12 months have you felt unwell as a result of work-related stress?". This seems reasonable as Schaufeli found a strong correlation of ~0.7 between self-reported burnout and health problems. Reasonable to use this (we will note the limitation in the manuscript)?
    2. For satisfaction, the closest NHS question is "I would recommend my organization as a place to work" as opposed to the more direct question in the General Social Survey, "All in all, how satisfied would you say you are with your job?" Reasonable to use this (we will note the limitation in the manuscript)? Any existing studies to justify this – I cannot find any.

In case you could not tell, my background is not in org psych, but I am a healthcare researching trying to do org psych research.

    thanks

    bob
