    APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTING. The Department of Management in the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver is accepting applications for two faculty positions for the 2019-20 academic year. See below for descriptions and information on how to apply.

    Visiting Professor (open rank), Management

    The Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver (DU) invites applications for a Visiting Professor (open rank) of Management starting fall 2019. Salary will be commensurate with experience and rank. DU is the oldest independent university in the Rocky Mountain region, with approximately 11,500 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The Daniels College of Business is the one of the largest colleges within the University, with 1,800 undergraduate and 1,000 graduate students. We offer a variety of degree programs, including two bachelor's degrees, four MBA degree programs, seven specialized masters' degrees and an Executive PhD degree.     Position Summary

    The Visiting Professor of Management (open rank), is a one-year contract. The position is expected to start on September 1, 2019 and run through the fall, winter and spring quarters of DU's 2019-2020 academic year. Visiting Professor will be a research-active faculty member who will be expected to participate in the academic life of the Management Department by attending department meetings and collaborating with other research-active members of the department. The University of Denver follows the quarter system, where classes meet for 10 weeks during the fall, winter and spring quarters. The normal teaching load is six core courses throughout the academic year. Teaching topic(s) and load will be subject to negotiation and related to the (open rank) Visiting Professors area(s) of expertise. Teaching will potentially include one or two courses in Daniels Executive PhD Program. Faculty members are expected to participate in college-wide faculty meetings and engage in service activities. Working effectively and collegially with diverse groups of students, faculty, staff, and/or community members is an integral part of the job responsibility.

    Essential Functions

    Teaching:

    • Teaching topic(s) and load will be subject to negotiation and related to the (open rank) Visiting Professors area(s) of expertise.
    • Courses could potentially include teaching to students in the Daniels Executive PhD Program and the Masters of Science in Management.
    • Topics of particular interest are research design and quantitative methods, qualitative methods, organizational behavior, and leadership.

    Research and Scholarship:

    • The Visiting Professor is expected to stay research-active while at Daniels.
    • Publications are not a requirement, but would be highly valued. The ideal candidate will collaborate with other research-active faculty in the Management Department as well as mentor junior faculty in their research.

    Service:

    • The Visiting Professor will help serve the department by mentoring and/or collaborating with other research-active management department faculty.

    Required Qualifications

    • PhD degree or equivalent degree in Business Administration or a closely related field.
    • Demonstrated potential for research excellence in the area of management, strategy or organizational studies.
    • Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence in the area of management, strategy or organizational studies.
    • Demonstrated potential to use a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives to effectively engage diverse populations and learning styles.
    • Demonstrated commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds.
    • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and collegiality.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • DBA or PhD in Management or a closely related field.
    • Demonstrated research excellence in the area of management, strategy or organizational studies.
    • Demonstrated teaching excellence at the doctoral and masters student levels.
    • Experience in teaching doctoral-level courses in research design and quantitative methods AND/OR a disciplinary subtopic of management (e.g., organizational behavior, leadership, strategy).

    The Assistant Teaching Professor of Management will work collaboratively with the Head of the Management Department to develop and deliver Management courses in alignment with college and department teaching needs. The University of Denver follows the quarter system, where classes meet for 10 weeks during the fall, winter and spring quarters. The Assistant Teaching Professor will teach nine sections during the fall, winter and spring quarters. Specific duties will likely include teaching management courses related to organizational behavior, strategic management, business communication, business for public good, and other management courses as determined by the needs of the department. At the Assistant Teaching Professor rank, the appointment is initially a one-year contract, renewable up to an additional two years pending satisfactory performance. Additional contracts may be awarded following a formal performance review. Position is expected to begin on September 1, 2019. Faculty members are expected to participate in school and college faculty meetings and engage in service activities. Working effectively and collegially with diverse groups of students, faculty, staff, and/or community members is an integral part of the job responsibility.

    Essential Functions

    Teaching:

    • Expected to deliver nine courses throughout the fall, winter and spring quarters.
    • There may also be opportunities to teach during the summer quarter as well as online management classes.

    Research and Scholarship:

    • As part of maintaining faculty qualifications for accreditation, the Assistant Teaching Professor is encouraged to engage in professional and/or academic efforts to represent the University and industry; for example, research efforts, speaking engagements, professional memberships, etc. Publications are not a requirement, but would be highly valued.

    Service:

    • Teaching Professors help serve the college by serving on committees, curricula design, and assurance of learning, and assuming other duties as assigned and/or needed.

    Required Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Business, Management, or a closely related field.
    • Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence in the areas of management and related topics.
    • Know how to appropriately write, speak, and perform within a diverse, global business environment.
    • Professional experience in business communication and/or management.
    • Proven portfolio of business skills, developmental experiences, and successes.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives to effectively engage diverse populations and learning styles.
    • Demonstrated commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds.
    • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and collegiality.
