  • 1.  Seeking Video Clips for Team Dynamics

Hi All - Apologies for cross-posting.

I'm conducting a workshop on team dynamics and seeking movie clips to illustrate the Tuckman model of group development. I'm also seeking experiential activities to illustrate team dynamics. The audience is engineers with 5 years or less of work experience.

Would anyone have any suggestions to share?  I'm happy to compile suggestions into one list and send back out to the group in gratitude.

Thank you so much in advance!

    Best,
    Jennifer

Jennifer, I have used sports movies like Remember the Titans to great effect to demonstrate teamwork.  A good clip for norming is when the team goes for a midnight jog to Gettysburg battlefield. Before that there is plenty of storming and after that they start performing.

There are a number of experiential exercises (google "marshmallows & spaghetti" or "egg drop device") to get the teams working on a task.   Typically Engineers will be very TASK oriented & won't spend any time "forming" (getting to know the other group members) and they also usually don't spend any time on group maintenance (bringing in quiet members, coming up with a method to resolve disputes).  There will be lots to discuss there.

    Good luck.
    Becky
