The CGIR Paper Development Workshop (PDW) will be held on Friday November 13th, 2020 as part of the preconference program of the 6th ICGS annual conference, that will be held virtually at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA, November 14-15th, 2020. The PDW, sponsored by Wiley, is organized in close collaboration with ICGS and CGIR, and involves current and former CGIR Editors. Participating Editors include Ruth Aguilera (Northeastern), Jill Brown (Bentley), Vidhi Chhaochharia (Miami), Alan Ellstrand (Arkansas), Chris Florackis (Liverpool), Maria L. Goranova (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee), Yaniv Grinstein (IDC Herzliya), Omrane Guedhami (South Carolina), Niels Hermes (Groningen), Bill Judge (Old Dominion), Krista Lewellyn (Florida Southern), Andrea Melis (Cagliari), Trond Randøy (Agder), Eduardo Schiehll (HEC), Wei Shi (Miami), Konstantinos Stathopoulos (Manchester), Till Talaulicar (Erfurt), and Alessandro Zattoni (LUISS).

    Objective

ICGS and CGIR's mission is to improve the quality and the relevance of international corporate governance (CG) research. The purpose of the PDW is to provide junior scholars with developmental feedback on their research papers in the field of CG. The PDW is soliciting doctoral students and junior scholars – from any discipline (e.g., accounting, finance, organization, strategy) and any country – to submit an original paper on CG.

    Program

The PDW is divided in two parts. In the first hour, each author will meet via zoom with two CGIR Editors, to receive personalized feedback on how to improve her/his paper, so to increase the probability of acceptance by CGIR or other CG journals. In the second hour, the CGIR Co-Editors-in-Chief and Senior Editors will present the journal's mission and scope, the key statistics on submission and acceptance rates, and the editorial review process. This will be followed by Q&A from PDW participants.

    Application process

Each applicant may submit only one paper, which may or may not also be scheduled to be presented later in the conference. Submitted papers must be less than 10,000 words in length, include an abstract, up to five keywords, and follow the CGIR authors' guidelines. Papers should be submitted via email to the coordinator of the PDW, Ruth Aguilera, to director@icgsociety.org with subject title, CGIR PDW. The deadline for submissions is October 30th, 2020.

Submitters will be notified whether they can participate in the PDW by November 2nd, 2020 and are asked to confirm their participation by November 6th, 2020. Authors will need to register for ICGS membership and for the 6th Annual ICGS conference in order to participate in the CGIR PDW. Registration is available:  https://icgsociety.org/odu2020/registration.html
