We are excited to invite you to the Real-Time PDW on "When is the right time to grow my family? Hidden challenges of family planning in academia and beyond".

Scheduled: Saturday, August 8 at 12:00 – 2:00 pm ET

    Session ID: 128

Objective: In this workshop, we will explore the issue of the timing of family planning with a focus on less-discussed challenges such as infertility, miscarriage, and other pregnancy complications. We will explore family planning at different stages of the academic career to better understand the costs and the rewards associated with each stage.

The workshop is comprised of three parts:

Part I: Crystal Dobratz, Nada Basir, and Serena Sohrab, who have chosen different timings, will share their family planning journey.

Part II: Judith Clair and Samantha Paustian-Underdahl will provide their view of the current state of management literature.

Part III: We will open up the session to attendees to explore two main questions: 1) what organizational design/policy pieces can address challenges employees face in family planning? 2) How can research in management contribute to a better understanding of this phenomenon and generation of out-of-the-box solutions?
