    The 13th – 14th International Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Conference (EDI) will take place on 12-14 July 2021 in Bern, Switzerland, and the call for submissions is now open (EDI). Thus far, we have 19 streams to which you may submit your papers, but more streams will be added during the course of November and December. The deadline for the submission of new stream and workshop proposals is 10 December 2020. Proposals must be thematically different from the streams and workshops already accepted, and they will be added on a rolling basis until this date. Stream and workshop proposals should be submitted to the conference chair, Thomas Köllen, at thomas.koellen@iop.unibe.ch.

    The Covid-19 pandemic remains a considerable concern across the globe. However, we remain confident that we can return to calmer waters, as it were, next spring, and that, regardless of the availability of vaccines, we will be able to come together again next summer in Bern. In response to potential travel restrictions from universities and home countries, we will offer the possibility of online participation, via Zoom, in addition to the on-site conference. The reduced registration fee for online participation will be €145 (€95 for doctoral students), and participants will be able to change their in-person participation to an online-only participation up until two weeks before the conference takes place (that is, until 30 June 2021). They will then receive a refund of the overpaid amount, compared to the regular fee of €395 (€195).  

    Submissions to the conference (i.e. to the streams) can be in the form of long abstracts (up to 1500 words), developmental papers (3000-5000 words, including references) or full papers (no length restrictions) by the deadline of 1 March 2021. Please process your registration and paper submission online via EDI.

    Your submissions should be adjusted to meet the formal standards of either the Journal "Equality, Diversity and Inclusion" or the "Journal of Business Ethics".

    Reflecting the multilingual nature of Switzerland, this year's EDI conference includes three streams in the most widely-spoken official languages of the country: one in German, one in French, and one in Italian. These streams welcome papers written in the respective language on any issue related to equality, diversity, and inclusion. The sessions within each of these streams will then be organized around the thematic vicinities of the submissions.

    Paper presentations at the conference will be a maximum of 15 minutes long, with 15 minutes for questions and discussion. If stream chairs are willing to allow different formats, they will notify you personally. Video projectors will be available in each conference room.

    You will receive notification regarding acceptance or rejection of your submission by 10 April 2021 at the latest. Every paper accepted for EDI 2020 is automatically also accepted for EDI 2021, no matter whether it has been published in the meantime or not. Of course, authors are free to withdraw their submissions, should they so wish, or to submit new papers for the EDI 2021 conference.  

    Best paper nominations, and the submission of best papers to the relevant associated journal (as agreed by the submitter), will take place on 18 May 2021.

    The review process of the best papers by partner journals is wholly under the supervision of the chief editors of the relevant journals, and is therefore independent of the conference dates.
