    Dear Colleagues,

Wisdom Studio series' third episode turns to W.A. Mozart's The Magic Flute opera, with an aim to continue developing a wiser approach towards anger in organizations. In this episode, titled "Protecting Inner Strength", program co-hosts Ms. Elisabeth Nunziato and Professor Hakan Ozcelik focus on how employees can effectively cope with abusive managers who try to manipulate others with anger.

The episode also features Professor Robin Fisher from the School of Music at Sacramento State, who reflects on her role as Princess Pamina in the Queen of the Night aria scene where her revengeful mother uses her anger to convince her to commit murder. In an interdisciplinary conversation integrating these insights with organizational research, the episode provides insights about:

    • How abusive managers can manipulate their employees with their anger expressions
    • How employees can emotionally protect themselves from an angry abusive manager
    • How power differences or close work relationships can make employees vulnerable to an angry abusive manager
    • How humanizing rather than stereotyping angry abusive managers can help employees protect their inner strength
