"Hot Topics" in Health Care Management: Research Roundtables (Session 179)
Date: Friday, July 30 at 4:45PM – 5:45PM EDT
Summary: This PDW invites participants to engage in discussion of four of the "hot topics" in health care management research and practice: 1) The Changing Nature of Work, 2) Crisis Resiliency and Recovery, 3) Equity and Disparity, and 4) Telemedicine, Health Care Technology/Digitalization. Participants will gather at virtual "research roundtables" where they will meet other researchers who share similar interests and discuss with them the state of research on their shared topic, challenges in conducting research on this topic, and future research, for example. Discussion at each roundtable will be facilitated by accomplished scholars, with active research on the hot topic. Participants will self-select into the topic area of their choice. This PDW offers participants the opportunity to engage in rich research discussions with exemplary facilitators reflecting diverse disciplines and perspectives, share new ideas, and make meaningful connections with potential collaborators.

Why participate?: The health care industry is the largest U.S. employer (Census.gov, 2020) and is projected to grow faster than other industries over the next decade (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2020). Consequently, there are plenty of opportunities for scholars who study professionals and organizations to examine a variety of topics within health care like those featured in this PDW! As a participant, you will gain a working knowledge of the state of research in focal areas within the health care industry, engage in discourse, gain a cross-disciplinary perspective, and meet other scholars with whom you may develop potential research collaborations. Researchers from all divisions are welcome. Come ready to have a rich discussion and to meet new people!
*NOTE - This event is listed in the program under "Emerging Scholars Consortium (ESC) - Afternoon Part 2 (session 179), but ALL are welcome; you do not have to be a part of the ESC to attend.
