Call for Associate Editor Positions at Gender, Work & Organization

  • 1.  Call for Associate Editor Positions at Gender, Work & Organization

    Posted 08-29-2020 11:39

Gender, Work & Organization is one of the top journals for explicitly feminist work in organization studies. The recently released 2019 Impact Factor emphasized this with an increase to 3.101 and a position as the number one title in the 'Women's Studies' Web of Science subject category.

To continue this success, Gender, Work & Organization is now looking to recruit new Associate Editors. We invite applications from scholars working in the broad field of gender and organization studies who wish to participate in shaping the future direction of the journal. We especially welcome scholars beyond Europe/US.

The Role: Call for New Associate Editors

Associate Editors will be full members of the editorial team and, along with the Joint-Editors-in-

Chief, assume responsibility for the editorial policy and practice of the journal. As part of the team, they will determine the intellectual agenda of the journal, commission special issues which align with this agenda and participate in journal-related activities, such as Meet the Editor sessions, held at the annual conferences of the Academy of Management and the European Group of Organization Studies.

Associate Editors will be directly involved in the handling of submissions to the journal, will oversee the review process and hold responsibility for taking final decisions on manuscripts. Each Associate Editor will be expected to manage the review process of between 6 and 10 manuscripts per year.

Areas of Expertise: What we Require

We will consider applicants with expertise in any aspect of the gender and organization studies field and overlapping areas such as race, ethnicity, class, disability and LGBTQIA+. We are particularly interested in applications from those who work out of a critical epistemological position. Additionally, we welcome applications from disciplinary fields beyond management and organization studies, such as sociology and gender studies.

Ideal candidates will have a strong record of publication in journals of good standing, be recognised scholars in the area of gender and organization studies and have methodological expertise in either quantitative or qualitative methods. Extensive experience as a reviewer in refereed academicjournals is required and editorial experience either as an associate editor and/or special issue editor is desirable but not essential. This is an ideal opportunity for a scholar who wants to support gender- focused and feminist research and writing, has an ability to manage a significant workload and wishes to influence the journal's intellectual agenda and global reach.

    How to Apply

Applicants should email a copy of their full CV together with a one-page statement of intent to

Martin Wells, Publisher, at mwells@wiley.com outlining their publishing, reviewing and editorial

experience, alongside the reasons for their interest in the Journal.

Virtual interviews will be held with short-listed candidate, which will be arranged at a mutually convenient time.
