    Exeter Centre for Leadership
    Rising Star Award
    Call for Applications

The Exeter Centre for Leadership (University of Exeter Business School, UK) will be hosting a 'Rising Star Award' at this year's AOM conference (Vancouver, 2020). Working with the Network of Leadership Scholars (NLS), the centre is once again this year looking to recognize a junior academic who is already making a significant contribution to the field of leadership. The intention of the Rising Star Award is to help promote the work of this highly promising junior scholar. Such recognition should promote networking with senior academics within the field and raise the winner's profile. The successful applicant will also be awarded £1500 to go towards supporting their research and will be invited to join the committee to judge applicants the following year.

    Eligibility
To be eligible to apply the applicant must be within 5 years of completion of their PhD, which must be on the topic of leadership within the field of either Organizational and industrial Psychology/Organizational Behavior/Management or a related field. The applicant must already have a proven record of publishing in top tier journals and be able to demonstrate a promising pipeline of work going forward.

    Application Process

To apply, please put together the following documentation and send to the award coordinator Alison Legood [a.legood@exeter.ac.uk]:
    • A CV including a full publication list (this can also include papers under review)
    • A 1 page summary providing a compelling argument for how your research makes a significant contribution to the topic of leadership. In this you can detail both how your work has evolved to date and your plans going forward for advancing knowledge.
    • A co-author reference (this can either be attached to the application or sent directly to the coordinator using the email stated above)

    Committee Membership
The committee will be made up of 5 members, including the chair, Professor David Allen, Pro-Vice Chancellor & Executive Dean of University of Exeter Business School. The four other committee members this year include Berrin Erdogan, Ronit Kark, Niels van Quaquebeke and Dorothy Carter (the prize winner of the Rising Star 2019),
Selection of Committee members is made with the intent of ensuring a representative committee (in terms of seniority, interdisciplinarity, multiple nationalities, and sex). The role of the Chair is to guide the Committee through its decision and work with the NLS Network Liaison in organizing the process.

    Deadlines and Timeline
The deadline for applications is March 30th 2020. Applicants will be informed of whether they have made the shortlist in April 2020. The final decision will be made by the committee in June 2020.
