    The School of Labor and Employment Relations at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Research Professor with the Center for International Human Resource Studies. This is a one-year, 36-week appointment that begins on August 16, 2021, with the possibility of extension for future academic years.     The Center for International Human Resource Studies was established in 2013 to encourage international human resource management scholarly research and to serve the International HR practitioner community. Through targeted events, the Center has developed a strong community of scholars passionate about international and comparative HRM, enabling the sharing of ideas to advance knowledge and practice in the field. 


    Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, as well as evidence of an emerging research program relevant to the Center's interests. Familiarity with comparative HRM research and the CRANET research network would be a plus. Scholars will receive salary, benefits, and a research/travel fund to support their work. The Assistant/Associate Research Professor will be expected to pursue international HRM research while with the Center. They will also provide service support to the Center, which will include assistance in organizing a large, international scholarly conference. The Assistant/Associate Research Professor will also be expected to teach two courses during the academic year, with a focus on HRM or research methods courses. Prior relevant teaching experience is preferred. Teaching obligations could include courses in the School's residential or online programs. The appointee will also be expected to participate actively in School activities. In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.

    The School of Labor and Employment Relations is a multidisciplinary department with a large undergraduate program, a residential Master of Science in Human Resources and Employment Relations (HRER), a residential Master of Professional Studies in Labor and Global Worker Rights, and a fully online Masters of Professional Studies in HRER. The School has existing strengths in human resources, workers' rights, labor relations, and international and comparative employment relations and human resources.
