    About Siena College:

Located in Loudonville, New York-just 10 minutes from the state capital of Albany-the Siena experience is built for a new generation of leaders eager to create a more just, peaceful and humane world. Each year, more than 3,000 Saints are empowered through a transformative journey of intellectual, spiritual and personal discovery. The Education for a Lifetime is made possible through a workforce of highly qualified and competent faculty, administrators and staff committed to fulfilling the Siena mission.

    Job Description:

The Department of Management at Siena College invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the assistant professor level in the area of Sports Management. The ideal candidate will be capable of developing and managing the Sports Management programs, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in topics related to sport management (analytics, coaching, facility and event management, leadership), work with full-time and adjunct faculty teaching specialty topics in sports management (economics, finance, law, marketing, psychology, physiology, and sociology), and advise undergraduate students.

All tenure-track faculty are automatically granted three credits of reassigned time for pedagogical development and research activity during each semester of their six-year probationary period. Tenured and tenure-track faculty are expected to participate in research activities that expand, integrate, and apply the knowledge base of their academic field. Tenured faculty receive reassigned time as long as they continue with their professional development activities.

The full time teaching load after reassigned time is nine credits (three courses) per semester. Courses are offered both day and evening, in-person and in hybrid and online formats. Opportunities are available for summer and winter term (overload) teaching for interested candidates. The preferred start date is September 2022.

The School of Business is AACSB accredited and a UN PRME signatory that offers graduate degrees in accounting and business administration and undergraduate degrees in accounting, economics, finance, marketing, and management. The school also offers a BS in Business where students choose to focus on two of 21 possible concentrations. The School is looking to develop a concentration in Sports Management to complement its highly popular offering in Sports Marketing.

Siena's Management Department offers students opportunities to participate in real-world, applied learning experiences which prepare them to serve their organizations and society. Management students focus their studies in one of six disciplinary and interdisciplinary tracks designed for students whose career goals are focused in a management specialty (human resources, leadership, project management), or context (entrepreneurship and small business management, international business, or strategic decision making). With this hire, the Management Department intends to offer a seventh track that would allow students to focus their management degree in sports related contexts.

Siena is a NCAA Division I School that competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). In the past year, Siena had seven programs honored by the NCAA with Public Recognition Awards for achieving Academic Progress Rates in the top ten percent of their respective sports nationally, sitting atop the MAAC for the fourth straight year.

    Requirements:

Highly preferred candidates will have completed a Ph.D. in Sports Management by June 2022. Sports Management candidates who have a designated date of completion for their dissertation within twelve (12) months of the start date will be considered. The Department will also consider applicants who have completed a Ph.D. in a management related field and have substantial experience in the sports management discipline. The ability to conduct scholarly sports management related research is required. The Management Department values experiential learning and student engagement. Preferred candidates will be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and an ability to create an inclusive learning environment for undergraduate and graduate students.

A background screening will be required.
