    Assistant Professor position in Human Resource Management & Organizational Behavior
    Strome College of Business, Old Dominion University

    The Department of Management in the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University invites applications from qualified candidates for one (1) tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level starting in August 2020.

    Job Description
    Responsibilities include high-quality research that is publishable in top-tier journals, teaching management courses (such as Human Resource Management and/or Organizational Behavior) at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as service to the university, the local community, and the profession.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Minimum required qualifications for the position include: (1) a Ph.D. (by August 2020) in Management or a related discipline with an emphasis in Human Resource Management or Organizational Behavior, preferably from an AACSB/EQUIS accredited institution; (2) evidence of strong scholarly contribution and demonstration of ability to publish in high-quality, peer-reviewed management-focused journals; and (3) evidence of teaching effectiveness in management-related courses. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated ability to teach Human Resource Management courses and evidence of ability to engage with the business community.

    Old Dominion University
    Old Dominion University (ODU) was founded in 1930 as the Norfolk Division of the College of William & Mary, and became an independent institution in 1962. ODU is a dynamic metropolitan, residential, and research-extensive public institution ("Higher research activity" using the Carnegie classification) with a student enrollment of nearly 25,000, including approximately 5,000 graduate students, and nearly 1,500 international students. The university has more than 800 faculty, of which more than 40% are female.     The University's primary campus is located in Norfolk, VA, the cultural hub of the region and home to the world's largest natural deep water port, the Atlantic headquarters of NATO, and Naval Station Norfolk, which houses the U.S. Navy and U.S. Fleet Forces Command. Norfolk has been named a 'Best City for Entrepreneurship' by Entrepreneur Magazine and in the Top 5 of 'America's Favorite Cities' by Travel and Leisure. Norfolk is one of the seven cities that make up the historic Hampton Roads region of Virginia, a major recreation area with a population of 1.7 million. The Hampton Roads region is experiencing a surge in entrepreneurial culture, and has the largest relative population growth of millennials in the nation according to the Urban Land Institute.

    Strome College of Business
    The college was named in June 2014 as part of the Strome Family Foundation's gift to establish a multi-pronged approach to nurturing entrepreneurship throughout the university. AACSB-accredited in both business and accounting, the college offers a wide range of undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs. Over 100 full-time equivalent faculty serve over 3,000 undergraduate and more than 450 graduate students, including approximately 100 doctoral students. The college also offers both its MBA and undergraduate programs online.

    Management Department
    The Department of Management has 13 tenure-track faculty, many of whom have leadership positions within the university, scholarly journals, and the Academy of Management. They currently include: Andrew Bennett, Emily Campion, Li-Wei Chen, Martin Goosen, Sheila Keener, Bill Judge, Elko Klijn, Ryan Klinger, Soo-Hoon Lee, Shaomin Li, Anil Nair (Chair), Rob Pidduck, and Jing Zhang.

    The department is actively involved in instruction at the undergraduate level as well as the graduate level (MBA program and doctoral program). The Department of Management has a very collegial and supportive environment which oversees a doctoral program in Strategic Management. The department plays a vital role in supporting the college's strategic focus in international business and entrepreneurship.
