    Announcement

9th Annual EIASM Workshop on Talent Management (Online)

    5 October 2020

We hope that this announcement finds all of you well, and that you remain safe.  These are exceptionally challenging times for all of us and will probably remain so for the foreseeable future.

Following on from the eight previous highly successful Workshops on Talent Management that were held in Brussels in 2012 and 2013, Berlin in 2014, Valencia in 2015, Copenhagen in 2016, Barcelona in 2017, Helsinki in 2018, and Toulouse in 2019, this workshop is intended to continue providing a forum for academic debate on the rapidly growing field of talent management.

This workshop is designed to bring together leading and emerging scholars working from a range of disciplines in the area of talent management with the intention of developing theoretical and empirical work which can contribute to this rapidly emerging area of study.  In these past 8 years we have been able to build a strong global community of scholars and practitioners working in the area of talent management, and we recognize the need to maintain our community of researchers (faculty and PhD students) and practitioners, as we navigate the COVID-19 crisis.  We have also established an enviable reputation for supporting early career academics and Ph.D. students, and we recognize the particular damage to the development of these groups that would be brought by canceling the 2020 event.

As a result, the TM Workshop chairs, Professors Vlad Vaiman (Lead Chair), David Collings, Hugh Scullion, and Anthony McDonnell are organizing a virtual 3-hour event on October 5 followed by a 90 minute session exclusively for PhD students.

The MAIN SESSION (3 hours) will include the following:

    • Opening remarks
    • Keynote speech (Leading TM speaker to be announced)
    • Panel discussion
    • Questions and Answers
    • Feedback from the participants
    • Wrap up led by the chairs

    Special PhD Session (90 minutes)

    • Online presentation of student papers
    • Discussion of papers in break-out groups (coordinated by one of the chairs)
    • Feedback provided by one of the chairs to support paper development and publication
    • Feedback from the participants
    • Wrap up led by one of the chairs

To present your research in this Special PhD Session, you should submit a full (draft) paper by August 1, 2020 to https://www.eiasm.org/frontoffice/event_announcement.asp?event_id=1496.

These initiatives reflect our commitment to maintain both momentum and continuity for our Talent Management community and opportunities for our virtual attendees to update their knowledge and networks until we can meet again in 2021.  Please expect further updates.   As you will appreciate, we will need more time to finalize the practicalities.  We will certainly keep you up-to-date.

    Take care and stay safe,

Vlad Vaiman, David Collings, Hugh Scullion, and Anthony McDonnell
