Full-time, fixed term of 4 years

We are seeking to recruit a post-doctoral researcher for the ESSEC Sports Chair at ESSEC Business School. The ESSEC Sports Chair develops research and teaching on sports business and the connection between sports and society, in collaboration with our industry partners. It is closely connected to an extensive network of alumni which includes sport industry leaders and top athletes, and to global events such as the Global Sports Week and the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.

This position is ideal for a candidate seeking to work at the intersection between academia and industry. The postdoctoral researcher will play a leading role in producing research reports and white papers for our industry partners and the wider practitioner community. They will also be an important contributor to the research environment of the ESSEC Sports Chair "lab", leading data collection in interview- and survey studies, and collaborating with the Chair professor Karoline Strauss and with doctoral students on academic publications. This is a four-year position which will allow the successful candidate to develop significant expertise in the field of sport business, and in knowledge transfer between academia and industry.

About you: You have completed a PhD in management, marketing, or a related social science discipline (or are close to submission). You are passionate about applied research and knowledge transfer from academia to practice, and you are well versed in communicating with practitioner audiences. You either have expertise in, or are highly motivated to learn about, the complex ecosystem of sport business management and topics such as sport governance, and the impact of sport on society. You have excellent oral and written French and English communication skills and strong data analysis skills. Ideally, you have experience in research supervision, having worked with undergraduate or MSc students on research projects. While the position does not involve significant teaching responsibilities, teaching experience is an advantage.

The position will start on 1st September 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.

A CV, cover letter, and two letters of recommendation should be sent to Professor Karoline Strauss at strauss@essec.edu. Informal enquiries may be directed at strauss@essec.edu.

Applications will be accepted until 27th July 2020 or until the position has been filled.
