    Job description
    As part of our growth ambitions, we seek a new colleague who is passionate about doing high-level research and deliver high-quality education related to leadership development. Candidates working on such topics as leadership development at individual and team levels, CEOs, and executive boards would have an advantage. A successful candidate will have a proven track record of relevant research published in a top tier journals and experience in leadership development education at both MSc and MBA levels. The position is embedded in a supportive international work environment of the Organisational Behaviour and HRM research section of the Management and Organisation Department of the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.     Your duties

    • initiate and perform high-quality research in the field of leadership (development), culminating in top tier publications and grant acquisitions
    • initiate and develop executive leadership development programmes
    • Teach and design courses at the postgraduate level (e.g., full-time/part-time PhD programmes; executive education), master level (e.g., MSc Business Administration, and/or MBA and Executive MBA), and bachelor level (e.g., the SBE International Business Administration); supervise bachelor and master theses
    • contribute to the management of the Department / School (e.g., by serving on committees)
    • be committed to obtaining a university teaching qualification, or to possess one already

    REQUIREMENTS

    Candidates are required to have a PhD in Business Administration/ Management, Organisational Psychology/Science, or a related field in the Social Sciences, and should be fluent in English. A strong track record of research publications in top journals in the field of management and organisational behaviour is a strong asset.

    WHAT ARE WE OFFERING?

    A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of €3,746 (scale 11) and a maximum of €6,317 (scale 13), depending on your education and experience. The job profile (Universitair docent/ Universitair hoofddocent) is based on the university job ranking system and is vacant for at least 1,0 FTE. The initial employment contract will affect a period of 6 years, with the possibility of tenure.

    Department of Management and Organization
    The Department of Management and Organization comprises a large, diverse group of micro and macro scholars who seek to combine research excellence with passion in teaching. The department has a strong research tradition, manifested in top tier publication records (Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management Studies etc.) well as in success in attracting external funding for research. The Department has a collaborative ethos with members actively working together on research and teaching projects. Our Department is highly diverse in terms of cultural backgrounds and we enjoy working in an international environment. We offer an active PhD program, Master programs in Entrepreneurship, Management Consulting, Human Resource Management, International Business, Leadership Change Management and Strategy & Organization and a broad range of courses in several Bachelor programs. The Assistant Professor will enhance and contribute to the Department's teaching and research activities and be member of the Management Consulting section. The research program of the section focuses on consultants and related management occupations as a research context, and is interdisciplinary in its analytical angles. Members of the group publish in journals like Organisation StudiesHuman RelationsJournal of Management Studies and Journal of Professions and Organizations. We also publish monographs with highly reputable publishers like Routledge, Oxford University Press and Cambridge University Press.
