As algorithms and AI continue to transform our organizational landscapes, understanding their impact becomes increasingly crucial. I'm excited to share that our editorial team will be hosting an information session for our upcoming Organization Studies Special Issue on "Algorithmic Organizing."
On June 9, 2025, from 10:00-11:30 EST, we'll be bringing together scholars interested in how algorithmic technologies are reshaping organizational processes and practices. This virtual session will be led by our guest editors: Vern Glaser (University of Alberta), Christine Moser (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), Luciana D'Adderio (The University of Edinburgh), Tim Hannigan (University of Ottawa), and Jo-Ellen Pozner (Santa Clara University).
The session will provide a comprehensive overview of the special issue themes, which include organizational agency, professional skills and expertise, practices and routines, privacy and surveillance, AI and automation, strategy-as-practice, values and ethics, and algorithmic affordances. Our guest editors will share insights on theoretical and methodological approaches relevant for the special issue, followed by an open Q&A where participants can ask questions directly. We welcome any scholar conducting empirical research on how algorithmic technologies are transforming organizational processes, practices, and dynamics. We're open to studies that use interpretive methodologies including, but not limited to, ethnographies, case studies, QCA, and practice- or process-based approaches.
Registration is open until June 2, 2025. You can register here: Submission form for the PDW on Algorithmic Organizing
For any questions, please reach out to Vern Glaser (vglaser@ualberta.ca) or Christine Moser (c.moser@vu.nl).
