Submission Window: December 1st – 14th 2025
We are pleased to announce the call for submissions to the Journal of Organizational Behavior Annual Review and Conceptual Development Issue (ARCDI). This special issue welcomes both theory development papers and integrative reviews that advance our understanding of organizational behavior by offering fresh conceptual insights and identifying key areas for future inquiry-whether theoretical, empirical, or methodological.
Background and Evolution of the Issue
The JOB Annual Review Issue has been published since 2013, following over two decades of success as the book series International Review of Industrial and Organizational Psychology. In 2020, the scope of the issue was broadened to include conceptual development papers. This evolution is reflected in the current title: Journal of Organizational Behavior – Annual Review and Conceptual Development Issue (ARCDI).
Scope of Submissions
We seek integrative reviews that go beyond summarizing prior work. These papers should synthesize and evaluate research across theories, domains, or disciplines to develop new theoretical insights. They must adopt an evaluative stance, critically assessing the state of the literature and providing clear, actionable directions for future research. Both qualitative and quantitative reviews are welcome, including meta-analyses, citation analyses, and other innovative approaches.
We also seek conceptual development papers that propose new theoretical linkages between constructs, articulate clear propositions, and typically include a visual model to represent the proposed framework. These papers aim to challenge and extend current thinking in the field.
Innovation in the Age of AI
Given the awe-inspiring advancements in AI and their increasing relevance to the academic research (e.g., Dasborough, 2023, 2024, 2025), we especially encourage submissions that move beyond synthesis. We seek papers that offer personalized critique, creative recombination of ideas, and bold new interpretations of organizational behavior concepts. In this evolving landscape, authors are encouraged to use AI not as a substitute for scholarship, but as a catalyst for elevating conceptual thinking and scholarly voice.
Whether through integrative review or conceptual development, the ultimate goal of this issue is to broaden the field's intellectual horizons and inspire meaningful empirical and conceptual advancements in organizational behavior.
