Call for Registrations: 2022 AOM PDW (Hybrid format) on "Doing Organizational Research in Developing Country Contexts"

Please join us at AoM in our new PDW that seeks to understand how to extend organizational theories or build new ones to explain organizational phenomena in less developed contexts. Less developed contexts are commonly defined as those where poverty rates are high, human development indicators (such as education, health, gender equality) are low, and formal market institutions are weak (Marquis & Raynard, 2015). Extending organization theory to these contexts is often challenging and poses novel theoretical and empirical hurdles related to the design, execution, and publication of research. This PDW seeks to create a platform for a wide-ranging discussion on these issues by bringing together a group of scholars who have successfully conducted and published organizational research in Africa, South Asia, and South America, among others.

     Our speakers include:

    • Natalie Carlson (U. of Pennsylvania)
    • Solene Delecourt (U. of California, Berkeley)
    • (Co-organizer) Stefan Dimitriadis (U. of Toronto)
    • (Co-organizer) Leena Kinger Hans (Indian School of Business)
    • Angelique Slade Shantz (U. of Alberta)
    • Jose Uribe and Megan Gabruk (U. of Michigan)
    • Tim Weiss (Imperial College London)
    • Chris Yenkey (U. of South Carolina)

The workshop is scheduled on Sat, Aug 6, 4:30-6:00 pm (Seattle time).

Please join us by pre-registering before 25th July here: https://forms.office.com/r/nPCzZksik0

If you have any queries, please reach out to one of the workshop organizers: Stefan Dimitriadis (stefan.dimitriadis@rotman.utoronto.ca) or Leena Kinger Hans (leenakinger_hans@isb.edu).

     Thank you.
