    Workshop Overview

Research using the entertainment industry as an empirical setting has tripled in leading journals between 2015 and 2023, addressing questions on winner-takes-all dynamics, innovation, digital platforms, and hybrid collaboration. Yet, unique challenges such as data access and content complexity have limited wider adoption.

This PDW brings together scholars who study film, music, and gaming to:

    • Highlight opportunities and barriers to research in this field
    • Share insights from using text, image, and audio data
    • Create a vibrant research community around creative industries

    Workshop Structure

    Part 1: Panel Presentations
    Featuring expert talks from:

    • Luis Aguiar (University of Zurich)
    • Olga Khessina (Gies College of Business)
    • Hong Luo (University of Toronto)
    • Sumeet Malik (University of Amsterdam)
