CALL FOR PAPERS at 2025 AOM PDW:
Board and TMT Diversity: A Paper Development Workshop
Co-Organizers: Elena Doldor, (Queen Mary University of London), Corinne Post (Villanova University), Steve Sauerwald (University of Houston), Cathrine Seierstad (University of South-Eastern Norway)
    • Do you research diversity on boards or in TMTs?
    • Are you looking for a value-adding informal review, expert feedback, or strategic advice on a manuscript you are preparing for publication?
⇒ If you answered yes to these questions, then this workshop is for you!
The Board and TMT Diversity: A paper development Workshop is designed for researchers in the field of diversity, corporate governance and upper echelons (boards, TMT). Highly experienced scholars, many with editorial experience, will mentor and provide feedback to more junior scholars on papers close to journal submission. Consideration will be given to a wide range of topics in this area, including but not limited to: (1) wider outcomes of board / TMT diversity beyond firm financial performance, such as sustainability, workplace diversity and inclusion, employee well-being, innovation and creativity, and improved stakeholder relations. (2) development of novel explanations for how and when board and TMT diversity affects firm outcomes; (3) novel conceptualizations of board and TMT diversity; (4) international comparisons or new methodological approaches. Qualitative, quantitative, conceptual, and empirical manuscripts are welcome.
The PDW will be held in person only during this year's AoM conference in Copenhagen. Participants are asked to submit a manuscript that is close to submission to a refereed journal (not under review). The paper should follow standard AOM guidelines (one single document, including all text, figures, tables, graphs, appendices, and references, NOT exceeding 40 pages in total length). Additionally, we request a one-page extended abstract and a list of key questions authors request feedback on (making the overall submission 41 pages).

Standing by to help you with your paper are the following experienced scholars: Steven Boivie (Texas A&M University), Andrew Ward (Lehigh University), Winfried Ruigrok (University of St. Gallen), Sabina Nielsen (University of Sydney), Terrance Fitzsimmons (University of Queensland), Patricia Gabaldon (IE University), Dennis Veltrop (University of Groningen), James Westphal (University of Michigan), Alessandro Zattoni (Luiss University), Gerry McNamara (Michigan State University), Aleksandra Gregoric (Copenhagen Business School), Sue Vinnicombe (Cranfield University), Toyah Miller (George Mason University), Livia Markoczy (University of Illinois at Chicago), Johanne Grosvold (University of Bath), Siri Terjesen (Florida Atlantic University), Igor Filatochev (King's College London), Kris Byron (Georgia State University), Seung-Hwan Jeong (University of Georgia), and Ruth Sealy (University of Exeter).
You're On Board, Now What's Next?
Submit your manuscript to Cathrine Seierstad (Cathrine.Seierstad@usn.no); submission opens on May 24th and closes June 1st 2025. In addition to the standard 40-page paper, please add one extra page including the following information:
    1. An extended abstract
      • A list of key questions authors request feedback on
      • The authors' career tenure (e.g. PhD student or number of years post-PhD)
      • A confirmation that at least one of the author(s) commits to attend AOM in person (feedback will only be offered in person)
    2. Decisions will be communicated by June 15. Space is limited and acceptance is competitive, so preference will be given to papers close to submission to a refereed journal and to junior scholars. You will also be notified of your allocated mentor.
    3. The PDW will be held during the AOM conference in person only, in a round table format. Participants will be allocated to tables with their assigned mentors. Other participants can also register and listen in on the sessions. The PDW organizers will provide a short welcome and debrief comments.
