    Apologies for cross-posing.

    Dear colleagues,

We invite you to submit a proposal to a Professional Development Workshop (PDW) at this year's Academy of Management Annual Meeting in Seattle in the area of workplace play.

The PDW has three converging aims: (1) generate scholarly interest for submissions to Journal of Organizational Behavior's forthcoming special issue titled 'The Power of Play in Organizations: Implications for Well-being and Work Effectiveness'; (2) discuss and present ideas and preliminary work with potential authors seeking to develop manuscripts for the Special Issue; and (3) provide prospective authors with developmental feedback on working papers for the Special Issue. Please see attached for details about the JOB Special Issue.

Given resource constraints, participation in this PDW is selective. To be eligible to participate, we ask that you submit a proposal (3 pages double-spaced, excluding references and figures) that clearly outlines your main research questions, hypotheses, and a proposed methodology (if applicable). We are open to both empirical (e.g., qualitative, survey, experimental, and meta-analytic reviews) and conceptual (e.g., theory development and integrative reviews) contributions. We especially welcome proposals that have the potential to stimulate discourse in the research agenda of workplace play, significantly contribute to the advancement of coherent bodies of knowledge in the area, and provide clear, compelling, and actionable recommendations to guide future scholarship.

If we receive more interest than our time allotment can accommodate, those with the highest potential for inclusion in the special issue will be invited to participate in the PDW. Note that inclusion of potential papers in the PDW does not guarantee acceptance in the Special Issue.

Please submit your PDW proposal to Lu Wang (nick.wang@anu.edu.au) by July 21, 2022 (5 pm U.S. Central Time) with the subject line: Paper development workshop on play.

The PDW itself will be entirely virtual, and is scheduled for August 6 from 3-5pm (Seattle time).

Feel free to contact Simon Restubog (simonldr@illinois.edu), Lu Wang (nick.wang@anu.edu.au), or Kohyar Kiazad (kohyar.kiazad@monash.edu) if you have any questions.

    Thanks!

Simon Restubog, Lu Wang, Kohyar Kiazad, Gillian Yeo, and Karl Aquino
